The APS Bank Premier card is a local debit card, provided free of charge to APS Bank's current account holders.

APS Bank customers may use the APS Bank Premier card to withdraw cash and effect deposits from the Bank's entire ATM network and over 70 Bank of Valletta ATMs.
The APS Bank Premier card may be also used to effect purchases from any retail outlet displaying the Premier/Cashlink sign.

The APS VISA Debit Card provides added security through Chip and PIN technology.
This card is accepted at millions of locations worldwide, giving access to APS Bank current account, whether at home or travelling. One can use the APS Bank VISA Debit card when shopping at the supermarket, dining at a restaurant, shopping on the internet, renting a car or paying the hotel bill. The APS Bank VISA debit card may also be used to withdraw cash from thousands of ATMs and banks worldwide.

Increased protection
When using the VISA Debit card to buy goods and services, one will receive a higher level of purchase protection by means of the Chip and PIN security system.
For protection when shopping, the VISA Debit card uses the latest Chip and PIN technology, providing protection against fraudulent activity.
Making payments and withdrawing cash
One can use the VISA Debit Card to pay for goods and services wherever one sees the VISA or VISA Debit Logo, making it more convenient and safer than carrying large sums of cash around. The VISA Debit card allows to set up regular payments for bills and services (eg subscriptions, memberships, etc).
The APS Bank current account statement provides one with a record of all his/ her APS Bank VISA card purchases/ withdrawals.
A daily withdrawal limit of 1,000 is set to safeguard the customer's interest in case of loss of card. This limit may be adjusted subject to customers' needs and may be totally waived especially when the customer plans to travel abroad.

Using the New VISA Chip and PIN Card

When one goes to pay, checkout staff will put the card into the card reader or asks the customer to do it

The card reader will recognise that it is a Chip and PIN card and will proceed with a chip and PIN transaction

Follow the instructions on the screen. Check the amount and enter the secret four-digit PIN on the PIN pad followed by the ENTER key when asked to confirm the payment

The PIN is not displayed. One will see asterisks (****) instead

If one makes a mistake, press clear and re-enter your PIN

In restaurants and other places where tipping is commonplace, one may be given the choice of entering a tip or new amount before entering his/ her PIN

The screen will show if the transaction has been verified and one will be issued a receipt as normal

- Sign new cards as soon as these are received
- Check cards periodically to make sure none are missing
- Check account statement often and report any unauthorised transactions immediately to APS Bank Cards Unit
- Destroy and dispose of copies of receipts, that display card numbers, after checking with account statement
- Memorise the PIN and do not keep card & PIN together
- If one wants to change the PIN s/ he can do it at any APS and BOV ATM.
- If it is changed, one has to use numbers which are not easily associated with him/ herself like part of the telephone number or the year of birth.
- Avoid popular number sequences like 9876 or 1234 or 9999
- Random combinations of numbers are best and hardest for a criminal to guess

If the Card is lost or stolen or is liable to be misused or the Cardholder suspects that someone else has discovered the PIN, s/ he must notify the Bank immediately by using the Banks emergency telephone numbers:

In the eventuality that the APS VISA Debit Card is lost or stolen abroad, the Cardholder should contact the Bank on the above-mentioned emergency telephone numbers or, if unavailable, notify any bank that displays the VISA logo.
